An original 1901 oil on canvas portrait signed by W. Früh, depicting a refined gentleman leaning over a windowsill with ivy trailing below. His tailored black suit, crisp white shirt, and small bow tie frame a composed expression, strengthened by the confident posture of his folded hands. The artist captures subtle textures in the skin and fabric, along with fine details like the gold ring on his hand and the cigar he holds. A richly ornamented gilt frame completes the presentation.
Measurements: 22 L × 28 H
Materials: Oil on canvas, gilt wood frame
Condition Note: Surface craquelure, a vertical scratch across the sitter’s torso, and a repaired area that has left a 2 inch planar distortion in the canvas. Frame wear with areas of gilt loss and small chips along the edges.
