Ironstone “Granite China” Scrollwork Plate

An early ironstone plate marked Granite China, featuring an ornate blue scrollwork pattern printed in a deep cobalt tone. The center carries a tight foliate medallion surrounded by sweeping rococo flourishes, all framed by a wide border of bold scrolls and leaf forms. Plates in this style were produced by English potteries in the mid-nineteenth century during the rise of ironstone tablewares. The shield-form stamp on the reverse confirms Granite China production.
