Rare Antique English Blue Willow Staple-Repaired Platter

A remarkable antique English ironstone platter featuring the classic Blue Willow pattern in deep cobalt blue. The sweeping landscape includes pagodas, bridges, boats, birds, trees, and architectural details framed by an intricately patterned border.

The underside reveals an exceptional series of historic metal staple repairs. Once performed by skilled china menders, this labor-intensive technique preserved a valued piece rather than discarding it. The visible staples and intersecting repair lines give the platter a distinctive make-do-and-mend character prized by collectors. The underside bears a printed Davenport Ironstone China stamp.
